Some interesting comments. The FODMAPs diet is topical and is promoted by some research groups in Australia. I hope to add a section to the diet and IBS section shortly Bowel Biotics is a product containing inulin and physillium. The inulin is a prebiotic - a nice idea but not really of proven benefit. One definite effect is the production of wind and bloating - not a good idea if you have IBS

hi, thank you for such cleat unambiguous information, there is so much confusing +contradictory info in cyberspace that it is hard to know what to believe and this just leads to more confusion, stress and dead ends! Now I have a product I would like your opinion on for IBS, life stream Bowel Biotics, which contains 1.55g psyllium husks .68g inulin (prebiotic + soluble fibre) probiotic cultures (lactobacillus, bifido etc. 270 million (per capsule) Is this the kind of formula that will be of use to my condition or shall I switch to other products?

Hello Alan Many thanks for this marvellous succinct information. I have bookmarked it to keep up to date with any future developments. After my recent experience with Moviprep what are the chances of tablets being used for colonoscopy prep. Could the preparation be mixed with something more palatable. It took me five hours to drink 1 litre not 1 hour!!

Hi I came across your website and wondered if you were going to include information on hepatocellualr carcinoma given the close link with Hepatitis B & C as risk factors for this disease especially in the Maori/ Pacific Island population of New Zealand.

In the mornings I often have abdo pain and cramps after breakfast (coffee and toast). During the day I often feel like i'm going to vomit and feel full even though i haven't had much to eat. What should I do?

Welcome to the Comments page. Gastro-Info has had a facelift after 4 years. I hope this new feature will be a forum for useful comments, personal stories and some questions. I will not be able to respond to all questions but will hope to participate in discussions on a regular basis. I look forward to your comments.
